Dalyan is one of the last pieces of paradise on earth; abreath taking landscape with a great historical value. The river of Dalyan, in which the water circulates between the Mediteranean Sea and The Koycegiz Lake, carves a path through a facinating network of small lakes and streams. The reeds that grow on the banks of the river can reach heights of 3, or even 5 meters high.

A boattrip through this natural landscape is very romatic and mysterious. There is a diversity in types of fish that live in the mix of sweet and salty water, as well as other wateranimals. With its fine cristal sand, shallow turquoise sea and abundant sunshine, Iztuzu beach is the ideal seaside spot, perfect for swimming for 7 months of the year. It is this beach to which the endangered Mediterranean turtle Caretta Caretta has returned year after year to lay its eggs since time immemorial.

The Mud Baths : "Beauty Mud" which not only cleanses and tones the skin, but is also supposed to be a remedy for old age and arthritis. After the mud has dried up, you can get into a waterpool containing sulphur, that also has a temperature of about 40 degrees Celcius. After this experience you go home relaxed and invigorated. Caunos: The antique town of Caunos is on the opposite side of the river to Dalyan. This town was built 3000 years before Christ.

The founder was Caunos, son of Miletos. Later this town grew to be a large part of Lycia and Caria. Caunos is definitely worth seeing. The most important buildings are the Acropolis, surrounded by city walls, a theater, four temples, a marketplace, springs, churches and water reservoirs. The impressive Lytical rockgraves are worked by hand, and shaped in the form of tempels. They are the last remaining sign of the graves of the kings of Caunos. The town had two harbors in that time: one for military purposes, and one for trading purposes.
